I’m Ollie, a frontend developer and founder of Virtual Jungle.

I have over 5 years of experience working with various tech stacks. I'm currently using Jamstack architecture to build modern sites, primarily in React, Next.js, Prismic and Vercel. 

I'm Ollie Taylor, a frontend web developer and designer based in Reading, UK. I've been building things for the web for over 5 years, working with clients from various industries to help grow their online presence. 

My passion for coding ignited in 2017 when I stumbled upon the inspector tool in chrome and first saw the code that makes websites. My mind was blown, and I instantly was obsessed with learning everything about web design and development. Before becoming a web developer, I worked at two large international animal welfare NGOs for 4 years. So, not forgetting my roots, I continue my passion for improving animal welfare and environmental sustainability.

Since 2020, I've moved away from building and deploying sites using traditional tech stacks (WordPress, PHP, SSR)  and now prefer to make sites using Jamstack architecture.

I primarily use React, Next.js, Gatsby and other JavaScript libraries to build websites. I have a good deal of experience working with various headless CMS, with a preference for Prismic, Contentful or Sanity. When it comes to deploying a site, I'll generally stick to using Vercel, Netlify or AWS, although I do have a lot of experience setting up and managing traditional hosting platforms (Siteground, Hostinger, Hostgator)

Not just a programmer, I also have an eye for design and regularly create bespoke designs ranging from entire web apps to UI components. Generally, I'll design everything in Figma, although I have experience using other design tools.

A web app to help visualise the difference between $1m and $1b. A live feed of the world's 25 wealthiest people, with the ability to visualise and compare their wealth. Visually see how much billionaires could buy - from F1 cars to diamonds to nurse salaries.

A free-to-use trivia quiz generator built using the trivia API. Users can personalise the quiz with their name, avatar and a selection of up to 10 categories. With plans to add user accounts and game history, there's a lot planned for Triviaquiz.io

A fast-growing accountancy firm that had outgrown its existing website. Requiring a complete redesign and rebuild was accomplished over several months of consultation and phased development. The new website provided a professional front to new and existing clients and value to the internal stakeholders.

A web app for a television producer displays the various productions she's worked on. Designed and built to have a visually distinct feel and a unique UX that can act as a showcase for television productions. Animations between pages create a seamless user journey.

A web app for a Berkshire-based virtual brand consultancy agency. More than just providing information to prospective clients, the website also needed multiple sign-up forms, bespoke carousels, a blog and detailed service pages. Designed and built to stand out from other branding agencies.

Virtual Jungle is my freelance business where I work with a range of clients to help develop their online presence primarily through designing, developing and maintaining their websites. To set me apart from the competition, I wanted to create a web experience that was memorable and distinct, highlighting the jungle vibe.

Working with individuals, agencies and businesses from various industries to design, develop and maintain their web presence. I regularly operated as part of a larger team and have acted as the sole lead in several projects using various technologies, hosting providers and external libraries. In addition, I often communicate directly with clients to provide advice and effectively translate their needs into a functioning web app that meets their needs and ultimately adds value to their business.

Worked as part of a small but experienced team adhering to the agile framework. I was involved in migrating client sites from the legacy CMS to the new CMS using the templating language Liquid and GraphQL. Additionally, I handled new and existing client enquiries, working with project managers and the lead developers on the project.
